Tuition Scholarship Program

Program Description
Kosciuszko Foundation Tuition Scholarships support American students of Polish descent for full-time graduate studies in the United States, the one-year Master's program at the Center for European Studies, Jagiellonian University, Cracow, and English Schools of Medicine in Poland. Funding for any major.  Additionally, law and engineering studies at DePaul University; Bayonne, NJ residents studying nursing, teaching and business; and funding for residents of Amsterdam, NY, Chicopee, MA and New Hampshire. Funding is for academic year 2008-2009. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $7,000.

Eligibility
United States citizens and permanent residents of Polish descent who are beginning or continuing graduate studies in academic year 2008-2009 and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. For full-time studies only. United States citizens of non-Polish descent are considered when their studies are primarily focused on Polish studies. Only one member per immediate family may receive a Tuition Scholarship during any given academic year. This scholarship is awarded only twice to an individual.

Selection Criteria
Selection is based on academic excellence, the applicant's academic achievements, interests and motivation, the applicant's interest in Polish subjects or involvement in the Polish American community. Financial need is taken into consideration.

Application Procedure

• Application forms are available from October through December 30.
• Deadline is on or before Tuesday, January 15, 2008.
• Submit a non-refundable application fee of $35 and all supporting materials to the Kosciuszko Foundation. Submit the documents as a completed packet, not seperately, on or before the deadline date.
• Completed Tuition Scholarship application form and Financial Information page. Applications may be obtained from the Kosciuszko Foundation.
• A personal statement. In detail, discuss your academic goals, career goals, and the major you are pursuing and your area of specialization.
• Two passport photos for publication purposes. Print your full name on the reverse side of each.
• Official transcripts for the last three full years of school work through Summer 2007. Fall 2007 coursework will not be considered.
• Two confidential letters of academic reference from professors/teachers submitted on letterhead.
• Provide proof of Polish ancestry. Use birth certificates, passports, naturalization papers and other documents to show the line of descent from the ancestor who was born in Poland to the applicant. Include a cover page outlining your Polish heritage. If documentation is not available, a letter from a prominent member of the community verifying your Polish ancestry will be accepted. Letters from relatives are not accepted.
